Q: Is there still playoff hope for the american patriots?
Answered 10/28/09 12:58:15 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: Barely, They've gotta beat North Miami and Carol City, and hope Krop loses to NMB and North Miami, then win a 3-way tiebreaker with NMB and North Miami. Unless Goleman beats NMB. and then they'd get in without tiebreaker. Pretty complicated.Submitted by john from miami
Q: We all know how impressive the teams are in the city, and those coaches have done a good job, but what about the job Matt Dixon has done at Varela. Obvioulsy they dont have the great athletes that other programs do. If they win out and go 7-3 and win the district, could Matt Dixon win coach of the year? He has turned that program around in a short time. thats coaching
Answered 10/28/09 12:51:11 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: i totally agree. Check out our segment on this week's Gridiron Report. We highlight Varela's game against Sunset and mention what you just said.Submitted by Your Name from Miami, Florida
Q: I havn't seen alot of articles about Miami Southridge, the team is showing great talent this year both on the offense and defense with very little recognition. I'd like to know why they are not getting the exposure that deserve, they are undefeated.
Answered 10/28/09 12:49:46 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: They were one of only 4 teams out of near 50 with football teams in Dade that was written about with a full story in our preview. We've had them ranked in the top 10 for several weeks now. We gave them headlines more than once, including the days they beat South Dade and Homestead. I'd say they have received recognition. The more they keep winning the more they'll get.Submitted by JMONEY from 33033
Q: Y do u like south dade over homestead?
Answered 10/28/09 12:46:07 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: More complete team. I like their passing game and running game and defense overall are more consistent.Submitted by Adnan from Kendall
Q: What happened to braddock? How come they are so bad? You and one of the other "experts" picked them to finish second behind sunset..Is it the coaching or lack of talent?
Answered 10/28/09 12:45:21 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: Lack of talent. That coaching staff has done well with little in the past, but I think it's really bad over there now.Submitted by Fan from Miami, Fl
Q: What do you think about #3 Kyle Lynch running back for Parkway Academy?
Answered 10/28/09 12:44:37 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: I've only heard and seen him secondhand or on film, but he looks good and is a big reason Parkway's got a shot in 1A.Submitted by John Stands from New York
Q: Who is this QB Wallace from Homestead? Is he legit? I hear about him from friends that are living in Dade but he is nowhere on the web as a D1 prospect.
Answered 10/28/09 12:40:58 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: He is athletic and a good passer, but I'm not sure what his situation is as far as grades, etc.Submitted by Devante Williams from Goulds,FL
Q: I like Palmetto to beat Homestead. Homestead struggled verse Coral Reef! And has no running game, QB is overrated, cant roll to his left and throws lazy. Sorry but Homestead finish 6-3. Good season but not DA RIDGE!!!!!!!
Answered 10/28/09 12:39:30 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: If Palmetto stays healthy, they stand a chance, but I see the Broncos making it to the Battle for Lucy Street still in playoff contention.Submitted by Z'niya Mathews from miami, florida
Q: do you think krop have a chance of making it to the playoffs? thier offensive is really good but thier defense needs to be in the wieght room..what do you think?
Answered 10/28/09 12:38:19 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: Actually I thought their defense, although a little undersized was the strength of their team against Carol City. On offense, they had an adequate running game, but passing wasn't sharp at all. Then again, it may have been Carol City's defense just being better. To answer your question, yes. I think they can make the playoffs esp. seeing how beatable NMB is these days.Submitted by terry from miami,,fl

Q: Miami Northwestern's coaching staff has done an outstanding job the last two seasons. They took a very young team to the state championship and are now on the verge of making another run...The media constantly mentions coach Smith's abililities but no one attributes MNW's success to William Rolle and his staff. WHY?
Answered 10/21/09 12:29:28 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: Which media are you referring to? I haven't written about Coach Smith in a while. I've seen him around sometimes. I wrote a story last year before state, highlighting the job coach Rolle and his staff did to get them back after they lost arguably their most talented team ever.Submitted by paws from miami,,fl
Q: how come running back ed smith isn't getting the media coverage he should? he's the only dade county running back averaging 100+ yards a game? and he"s a great blocker, excellent runner and exceptional player. even though he's on a losing team, he's all they have and he's still unstoppable.
Answered 10/21/09 12:26:57 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: Because he's on a bad team unfortunately. But we've taken notice. We're still covering every Southwest game and if he has big games he will be mentioned.Submitted by GOD'S BLESSING from BROOKLYN, NEW YORK
Q: I HAVE BEEN HEARING THIS RUMOR ABOUT THE HOMESTEAD AND SOUTHRIDGE GAME, I'M CONFUSE, I LIVE IN NEW YORK BUT MY COUSIN PLAYS FOR HOMESTEAD FOOTBALL, AND I'M JUST WONDERING WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON. IS IT THAT HOMESTEAD PLAYED BAD OR WAS IT THAT THE REEF WAS CALLING BAD CALLS, AND ANOTHER THIS WHAT ABOUT HEARING THAT THE COACH OF HOMESTEAD WANTS A REMATCH. IS HOMESTEAD GOING TO GET THEIR REMATCH AGAINST SOUTHRIDGE?
Answered 10/21/09 12:24:55 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: Homestead can get a rematch...but only in the 2nd round of the playoffs and if it wins out in district play. That means beating South Dade of course at the end.Submitted by brandon from hollywood, florida
Q: how do you feel about #8 curtric evans the junior from chaminade-madonna?
Answered 10/21/09 12:23:48 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: All good things, one of the many reasons Chaminade is in the driver's seat to win the district and likely get a tussle with Pahokee in the 2nd round of the playoffs.Submitted by tim from miami
Q: what do you think is american highs problem they have plenty of talent i think they just dont know how to close out games what do you think.and also do you think they have any seniors that can play college football.
Answered 10/21/09 12:22:49 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: They've probably got a couple of guys. THere's a lineman I saw that was pretty big on the DL. And the tight end has size Carvajal, but not seen enough of him to see how tough he is to go up and make big catches. They just don't have enough talent to keep up with the top 2 in that district right now.Submitted by jmoney from homestead florida
Q: What teams are most likely to be district winners and runner-ups in 6A football this season?
Answered 10/21/09 12:21:09 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: Through Week 7, I'd have to say 12-6A: 1. Carol City; 2. NMB; 13-6A: 1. NW, 2. Central; 14-6A: 1. Columbus, 2. Coral Gables; 15-6A: 1. Varela, 2. Ferguson; 16-6A: 1. Southridge, 2. South Dade.Submitted by Adrienne from Miramar. Fl
Q: What do you think about Parkway Academy?
Answered 10/21/09 12:19:33 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: Very athletic and strong team that should get the 1 more victory it needs to lock up the District 8-1A title this week. If they do beat Dade Christian, they'll likely go 9-0 and then, the road gets tougher. In the first round, they'll still have a chance to beat a team like Calvary Christian. 2nd round they'd probably face Delray American Heritage. If they clear that, then they're definitely in underdog territory with the likes of Fort Meade, Tallahassee North Florida Christian or Jacksonville Trinity Christian waiting in the wings. But you never know, they've looked pretty impressive.Submitted by J-BOOGIE from MIA
Q: What two teams do you think are going to the playoffs from district 6A?
Answered 10/21/09 12:07:52 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: there are 5 districts in 6A with Dade teams, which one are you referring to?Submitted by SPARTAIN10 from SOUTHRIDGE
Q: Does homestead still have a chance 2 win the district title? if so how?
Answered 10/21/09 12:07:16 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: They need to win every district game left and hope South Dade does the same until they play them. Then they need Southridge to lose at least one to force a tiebreaker. Another way is winning every district game left, and Southridge to lose 2 district games, but that's more unlikely. The more likely scenario is if they beat South Dade, they get in the playoffs and then get a rematch with Southridge in the 2nd round.Submitted by Lee Fudge from Augusta, Georgia

Q: Y u picked Homestead to defeat Coral Reef? Coral Reef is going to run all over their sorry defense and get McCray fired so a real coach like Coral Reef's Clements come take over the program(insider)!

Q: What teams are most likely to be district winners and runner-ups in 6A basketball this season
Answered 10/14/09 12:51:36 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: I haven't fully researched it yet. But I think going in, the favorites are: 13-6A: Krop (brings back most talented team), and Carol City (heard they have a couple of good players). 14-6A: Miami High and Northwestern (in either order) 15-6A: Columbus (added All-Dade forward Eddie Odio, who transferred from Miami Christian) and South Miami (always has talent) 16-6A: Coral Reef (brings back Hankerson and solid core of underclassmen); Palmetto (brings back Hardaway, Jr.)Submitted by Julio Gonzalez from Miami,Florida
Q: What do you think about Columbus and Gables game this week? I know Coach Montoya has prepared his defense well for this one. And it's going to be the battle of the two backs, Bridge and Gore. I love the way Bridge plays. He's a hard runner. What are your thoughts?
Answered 10/14/09 12:42:12 by High School Sports Beat Writer
A: Both are very good runners, too bad as it turned out there was a big disparity at almost every other position.Submitted by chief from miami

Answered 10/14/09 12:41:22 by High School Sports Beat Writer
