Q: OK the time bell rings for 7-8-09. Thanks to all. My chat will be away on vacation the next two Wednesdays and will return on July 29.

A: Meantime continue to visit my blog obsessively and join us at Twitter.com/gregcote

Q: Can't believe Liza minelli was a no-show.

Answered 07/08/09 14:01:02 by Greg Cote

A: Lots of them. Liza, Liz Taylor. All of the Divas, Octogenarian Division.

Q: Update from The Herald newsroom: Le Batard's massage by Barry Jackson has ended, and Dan has just dispatched Linda Robertson to the cafeteria to buy him grapes.

Answered 07/08/09 13:59:35 by Greg Cote

A: (Red, seedless).

Q: Hi Greg, Hoping you've been well... I think the low-talker on Seinfeld was Kramer's girlfriend, remember she was the one that got him to wear the "puffy shirt". Sandy

Answered 07/08/09 13:56:33 by Greg Cote

A: Hi Sandy, I think you are right. I'd forgotten that the low-talker and the puffy shirt were the same person (and same episode).

Q: Favorite and worst parts of the jackson ceremony.

Answered 07/08/09 13:55:23 by Greg Cote

A: Caldwell, thanks for the non-question. A non-sentence, really. Favorite part for emotional wallop was the little girl talking about her daddy. Worst part was Al Sharpton, in an otherwise pretty stirring speech, telling MJ's kids, "Wasn't nothing strange about your daddy..." C'mon, Al! I don't care how much anybody loved Michael, you got to admit he was one strange dude. Name somebody stranger. Anybody.

Q: Wow, I don't even remember the low talker! Nice one! I remember Judge Reinhold as the close talker, but not the mumbler. You got me there! Bania was the unfunny comic who always was hounding Jerry. The one whose main routine centered around Ovaltine. You'd know him if you saw him. He was my favoriete because 98% of the stand-ups at the time were as unfunny as Bania, yet still got gigs, still got paid.

A: What's amazing about Seinfield is they stand up over time. I'll watch an episode I've seen five times. Same, for me, with Family Guy and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Q: Greg, what do you make of the report that undercover government agents were able to walk unimpeded past security into federal buildings in several American cities with bomb-making equipment, and then put together the bombs in restroom stalls, and then just walk around the building, unperturbed, with the bombs ready to go off? This is frightening. This should be the only thing the networks are talking about today. Maybe if these undercover agents were only wearing one glove, that'd happen.

Answered 07/08/09 13:47:33 by Greg Cote

A: Dennis, yeah I saw that story and it's really, really frightening. Almost unbelievable. Here's a link if anybody wants to copy and paste: http://news.aol.com/article/bomb-parts-federal-security/560736

Q: In their rebuilding year after 1-15 last year the Dolphins put their coach on their publicity info and media guide..Who do you think they will go with this year??A lot of choices now..

Answered 07/08/09 13:44:44 by Greg Cote

A: Larry, interesting question. My guess would be a montage that would include Tony Sparano, Chad Pennington, Ronnie Brown, Joey Porter and (maybe) Jason Taylor. By the way, the Dolphins' media people wanted Bill Parcells on last year's cover but Tuna said no.

Q: I believe that the rich and/or famous, whether they like it or not, should set an example for everyone else. So, I agree with you and Jason Whitlock regarding Steve McNair. I've heard that he was a borderline Hall of Famer. I hope he's out now.

Answered 07/08/09 13:42:22 by Greg Cote

A: Look, McNair's death was tragic and the fact he was cheating on his wife doesn't make him a terrible person or eradicate all the good he did. But it does knock him off the pedestal and is a part of the entirety of him. As for the Hall of Fame? No chance, no way, not close. Sorry.

Q: WHat do you think of Wade speaking out on the Heat's need to upgrade for him to stick around? Do you think there will be any comments from management??

Answered 07/08/09 13:39:51 by Greg Cote

A: Bryan, I think Dwyane has been pretty careful/tactful with what he's said and how he's said it, usually tempering his comments with an expression of faith in Riley. But I don't blame Wade for thinking how he does or saying it aloud. I get into all that (Shameless Plug Alert!) in today's column and also in my blog.

Q: How come you moved from Monday to Wednesday for your chat? Seems like LeBatard should have had to move since he bailed on all of us for the last year? plus his responses are so predictable...

Answered 07/08/09 13:37:41 by Greg Cote

A: Mike, naw Dan had Mondays originally. I was cool with moving to Wednesdays. Besides, Dan is the Man. Not a lot of people know that the rest of us in The Herald sports department alternate as his man-servants. In fact, right now, while I'm doing this chat, a few feet away from me, Dan is getting a massage from Barry Jackson. Dan, next time at least put on a towel please. Crikey!

Q: It is halftime of today's chat. Performing at today's celebration: Stevie Wonder and The World's Most Receding Hairline. (Back in 9 seconds...)

Answered 07/08/09 13:33:42 by Greg Cote

A: Get your questions in soon or we might not get to 'em today...

Q: Riesling is very underrate. Solid choice.

Answered 07/08/09 13:30:58 by Greg Cote

A: Bailey, sorry but the pairing of Gouda and Reisling was today's taboo subject, remember? Must move on.

Q: What do you think of Lance Armstrong's run at th Tour d' France so far?? Pretty amazing for him to be able to compete at this level after so much time off..Maybe he is trying to eliminate all the suspicions??

Answered 07/08/09 13:29:50 by Greg Cote

A: Sandy, yeah i never figured Lance as a contender this year after 3-plus year away. Truly amazing stuff. He'll never outrun the suspicions, though. Seems like the French doping officials have a vendetta.

Q: Is Michael Jackson's funeral over yet? Is it safe to emerge from under the bed? Can you believe what this world has come to?

Answered 07/08/09 13:28:25 by Greg Cote

A: I actually thought it was pretty well done and think the public interest justified having it in an arena. My objection is the city of LA -- in other words, taxpayers -- putting it on. It should have been a private enterprise paid for by the Jackson family or a record company or something like that.
