Q: What Head Coaches in the NFL are in the final year of they're contracts, and could talk to the dolphins, good or bad?
Answered 01/11/12 13:06:25 by Greg Cote
A: Steve, well let's see I happen to have all 32 contracts right in front of me ... seriously, I don't know that answer offhand, but the questions seems moot at any rate because they are zeroing in on the guys they have interviewed.Submitted by sandy anderson from sebastian, fl
Q: after readng your snod remark in the Vero paper about the Denver fraud QB, eat those words ?He bringing fun back into the NFL
Answered 01/11/12 13:04:43 by Greg Cote
A: (By the way, Jeff Fisher will be joining us in the Chat Room live at 1:30 p.m. to announce his decision, according to a ridiculous false rumor I just started). Sandy, I believe I made a snide remark, but snod works for me.Submitted by George Otterman from Sevierville,Tn
Q: Here we have a young QB fresh out of school.Shame on you for calling him a fraud. He has a lot to to learn and he is a winner.Did you watch the Steelers/Broncos game?
Answered 01/11/12 13:03:05 by Greg Cote
A: OK let's roll! George, yeah I called Tim Tebow a "fraud QB." He made me eat my words vs. Pittsburgh, I'll admit. Oddly enough, that was the first time I was ever wrong! :) :DSubmitted by Greg Cote from Miami FL USA

A: See y'all right back here next Wednesday at 1. Meantime look out for my columns, visit my blog religiously (like Tim Tebow) and also join us on Twitter @gregcote. Ciao.Submitted by Allison Smart from Atlanta, GA
Q: Greg, I love your blog but why don;t you answer in the Comments section?
Answered 01/04/12 13:55:16 by Greg Cote
A: Allison, mostly for time constraints, but also I just think the Comments section should be left to the blog community. I have my say in the main blog itself that begets the Comments. Readers who want to deal with me directly have this live chat and emails. Plus I think I'll sporadically bring the Ask the Blogmaster General feature back to the blog this year. Stay tuned.Submitted by Rawpimple from Miami, FL
Q: Greg, waiting for you to ask me a question.
Answered 01/04/12 13:51:05 by Greg Cote
A: OK. Dear Rawpimple, is that your real name and, if so, is your nickname Pus?Submitted by rob from Davie,Florida
Q: World Series prediction?
Answered 01/04/12 13:50:18 by Greg Cote
A: Rob, ha! Sure why not? Here is my prediction and you can take it to the bank: In 2012, unlike in 1994, there will be a World Series.Submitted by Rhonda from Kendall
Q: Both the Gators and Seminoles won their bowl games, ending disappointing seasons on a high note. Should we consider that a positive start for next year?
Answered 01/04/12 13:48:17 by Greg Cote
A: Rhonda, sure why not! Can't keep these Florida schools down (including UM). Too much talent down here. Think Noles should be really good next year, Gators less so but mainly because their conference is plainly tougher. Both of 'em got a reminder this season how important QB play is.Submitted by Marc Almeira from Miami, Fla.
Q: Super Bowl prediction?
Answered 01/04/12 13:46:08 by Greg Cote
A: Marc, yes, eventually, but not here, not now. The Upset Bird and I will be holed up in the Prognosticatory Dungeon all day tomorrow making our postseason picks including our SB forecast. Look for them online late Thursday and in Friday's pulp editions.Submitted by Jeremy Sorkoloff from Miami Beach
Q: You covering the Orange Bowl, what'd you lose a bet!
Answered 01/04/12 13:41:48 by Greg Cote
A: Jeremy, it's only a bad assignment because of the deadline aspect. As Miami's main general sports columnist I feel I have an obligation to be at major events, and the 78th OB Classic is one. Next year we'll be the BCS national-championship game. But tonight's matchup isn't bad, either.Submitted by Eric West from Miramar
Q: Hey greg what did you get at IHOP?
Answered 01/04/12 13:37:07 by Greg Cote
A: Eric, ha! I think they call it the "sampler" breakfast. Eggs over easy, small sampling of sausage, bacon and ham, hash browns (well done), and pancakes. Plus coffee, of course. Now you know why I'm skipping lunch. Maybe dinner, too.Submitted by Justin Time from Plantation,FL
Q: How many losses for the heat this season?
Answered 01/04/12 13:35:22 by Greg Cote
A: Justin Time, oy! Answer: Last time i looked, 1. Oh wait you my prediction for the season. I say 11 ... 55-11.Submitted by Dan from Melbourne, Fl
Q: Why does all the national press feel we have no shot at Fisher? And if we don't get him who would be your choice?
Answered 01/04/12 13:33:33 by Greg Cote
A: Dan, there is very little original reporting going on. Media (especially people covering teams and supposedly so tapped in to their sources) mostly just regurgitate stuff already written. Truthin' here. So a perception -- i.e., Rams have inside track for Fisher -- tend to take on a life of its own even if the premise is faulty. I think the Dolphins have a fair shot at Fisher, and are so focused that I'm not sure there is a credible Plan B at this point.Submitted by Jim Beam from Davie,FL
Q: Hey Greg who do you like the dolphins to get for a new coach?
Answered 01/04/12 13:30:52 by Greg Cote
A: Jim Beam, where Jack Daniels at!? You propose the Million Dollar Question. All I know is they really want Fisher, and winning him from the grasp of the Rams will define Stephen Ross in a lot of ways.Submitted by Steve Angle from Boca Raton
Q: Why doesn't Miami go after Bill Polian? It seems like a no brainer

Q: Why doesn't Miami go after Bill Polian? It seems like a no brainer
Answered 01/04/12 13:28:00 by Greg Cote
A: Steve, yeah I thought that as soon as I heard the Colts let him go, which surprised me and reportedly shocked Peyton Manning. Timing is weird, though. Changing GMs in the midst of a coach search would cry instability as much as it might declare improvement.Submitted by Greg Cote from Miami FL USA
Q: It is halftime of today's chat...
Answered 01/04/12 13:25:00 by Greg Cote
A: Which reminds me, I'll be at Orange Bowl game tonight, and Train performs at the half. I liked "Hey Soul Sister" about the first half-million times I heard it...Submitted by JJ from Bakersfield, Ca
Q: I do not understand why Ross has not formally announced Peterson as VP. Why would Peterson be in on only certain coaching interviews?? If you are going to be VP of a team, support ALL coaching prospects. It, to me is showing conflict. No respectable, high profile HC is going to come aboard with a shaky FO. What is your take on this?
Answered 01/04/12 13:22:14 by Greg Cote
A: JJ, yeah Peterson floats in that murky area known as "special adviser," but (as I wrote in my blog) if I'm Jeff Fisher I think it's pretty weird that someone not officially with the club (Peterson) is the guy on the helicopter with me. Send mixed signals. Makes a prospective coach wonder about who's in charge. Not good.Submitted by I am Kazaam from Miami
Q: If Ross is so focused on hiring stars to run his team then why does Jeff Ireland still have his job? His safe, visionless draft last year was anything but inspiring.
Answered 01/04/12 13:19:55 by Greg Cote
A: I am..., agreed that Ireland remains sort of a GM with training wheels still on, although I must say his last draft worked out pretty well, as did the Reggie Bush signing, as did opting for Moore over Kyle Orton. (Credit where it's due, right?) But his and Ross' litmus test is now with the coach-hiring, the QB situation and the coming draft.
