Q: By the way in that reboot I lost a bunch of questions; sorry. (I remember one of them spelled Ross with about four S's). So if I don't answer your questions please resend.

Answered 01/18/12 13:28:39 by Greg Cote

A: I am the Capt. Francesco Schettino of chat rooms.

Q: I am a relocated life long Dolphin fan. The glory and history of this franchise just keeps spinning downward. Doesn't Stephen Ross take any blame for that? They would be better off having kept Sporano at this point.

Answered 01/18/12 13:25:35 by Greg Cote

A: Ralph, Ross not only hasn't taken blame but I think he thinks he's doing pretty well. I also agree that Sparano is looking better and better.

Q: Hey, apologies for the delay. Had to reboot. My computer told me my Shockwave Flash plug-in had crashed. I have no idea what Shockwave Flash means and didn't know I had a plug-in!

Answered 01/18/12 13:24:13 by Greg Cote

A: (I wouldn't say I'm computer illiterate. Just sort of remedial...)

Q: Saw in your blog you were at the Heat game as a fan last night. First, how was it sitting among the little people? Second, did you cheer or were you "nuetral"?

Answered 01/18/12 13:12:44 by Greg Cote

A: Jeremy, most of those little people were a lot better dressed than me and probably have what I make in a year in loose change under their sofa cushion. And yes I cheered some during that magical third quarter. I'm from here. I wish well for our local teams.

Q: Sure seems like Rosss has blown this entire coaching decision and now we lose our defesnive coordinator in th eone area the team was doing well? This signals a step back to say the least. What do you think?

Answered 01/18/12 13:08:01 by Greg Cote

A: Sick and..., yeah it's a bad week when first Jeff Fisher turns you down and then your best assistant Mike Nolan jumps ship for the same job elsewhere. Makes you wonder. I'll be exploring all of this in-depth in my next column. Look for it online later today and in Thursday's pulp editions.

Q: Why do you think the Heat are undefeated when Wade does not play but have lost 4 times when he does?

Answered 01/18/12 13:05:51 by Greg Cote

A: Manny, I think you have hit upon something. The problem is Wade!!! (Actually wasn't one of those losses with Wade out?) The question deserves a serious answer, though. I think the Heat and its offense is "simpler" when one of the Big 2 is out and LeBron or Wade are free to be their natural self. Getting all the big pieces to mesh perfectly remains a work in progress.

Q: Why aren't the Dolphins considering Marty Schottenheimer? I'm shocked that he isn't every teams top candidate, especially considering the names that are out there...its not even close. He wins!...and wins a lot. The fins could be a contender instantly in my opinion. Thanks.

Answered 01/18/12 13:03:11 by Greg Cote

A: ALRIGHT LET'S ROLL! Sorry. I'll stop shouting. Cam, Schottenheimer has gotten a nibble or two (not from Miami), but his problem mostly is age, the idea he is yesterday. Also there is that 5-13 playoff record. I agree he might be worth considering, though. Can't deny the experience.

Q: Hello 1-18-12 people! Greg here. Starting right at 1 so queries and pithy comments in now.

Answered 01/18/12 12:57:27 by Greg Cote

A: Today's lunch: Herbed crostini with habanero cheddar, or what Granpappy would cheese and crackers.

Q: Time bell clangs for 1-11-12. Thanks to all. See you back here next Wednesday 1-2 p.m. as usual.

Answered 01/11/12 13:36:47 by Greg Cote

A: Had to cut this chat short this week because of breaking news regarding Jeff Fisher and Dolphins. See y'all back here next Wednesday.

Q: Greg no longer living in So Fla. and a little out of touch on what the pulse of how the Dolphin fans feel.. what is your sense on Fisher opting for Miami and how will he be received by Dolfans

Answered 01/11/12 13:36:09 by Greg Cote

A: Jim, this is breaking news that most Dolfans will be excited about I think. And because of that breaking news I must cut this chat short. Sorry, folks.

Q: Addendum to earlier question from Steve Z: Manchester City is touring USA July 13-30 but I only sow stops in Foxborough, MA, Seattle, Chicago, New Jersey and Washington, DC. Maybe Miami has been added but not announced yet?

Answered 01/11/12 13:35:22 by Greg Cote

A: So there.

Q: It is halftime of today's chat...

Answered 01/11/12 13:29:41 by Greg Cote

A: Breaking news: Jeff Fisher now leading in polls for South Carolina primary.

Q: That reminds me. Do you ever watch Le Batard's new TV show?

Answered 01/11/12 13:25:59 by Greg Cote

A: Jeremy, did at first but hardly at all since, simply because I rarely watch TV in the afternoon or think to. That isn't a knock at "DL Is Highly Questionable." From what i have seen the show is very good, fresh. And his dad Papi is a hoot.

Q: Greg, are you ever tempted to hit the mute button on your phone when you're on the LeBatard Show and leave them with dead air?

Answered 01/11/12 13:22:34 by Greg Cote

A: Ha! I should try that. (Reference to my Tuesday appearances on 790 The Ticket and their tendency to leave me to free-form and fill dead air).

Q: Do you remember Welker, Seau, etc. going to New England then haunting Dolphins fans? Any fears that the jest will be your new nightmare, 3 points a a time?

Answered 01/11/12 13:20:50 by Greg Cote

A: Ha! Congrats on your new gig Tony? Was that a Freudian type on "jest" instead of Jets? Dolfans can only hope Sparano's Jets offense continues to think the field goal is 3alicious.

Q: If Jeff Fisher comes to Miami, he will provide much-needed stability. But only six winning seasons in 17 years? That concerns me. Do you think he would be able to get Miami over the hump?

Answered 01/11/12 13:18:47 by Greg Cote

A: Paul, yeah but five .500 seasons also means he had only five losing seasons in 17 years. Semantics, but also reality. His .542 career win percentage is pretty solid, and his teams were usually really good defensively.

Q: Hi Greg - who do you like for the Houston/ Baltimore game? Thanks Cid

Answered 01/11/12 13:16:05 by Greg Cote

A: Cid, my inclination is to like Baltimore outright but think the 7.5 line is too big. Will research and write my Divisional Round picks tomorrow so look for 'em online late Thursday and then in Friday's paper.

Q: Do you know the date Manchester City is playing a friendly in Miami this summer. Nice to chat with you. All the best.. Steve Zerhusen

Answered 01/11/12 13:14:18 by Greg Cote

A: Hi Steve. (Steve was a goalkeeper for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers back in the day...) I don't see it on the schedule list for the Dolphins stadium. Will check further and find out. Anybody else know off hand?

Q: ranked as the number 7th Defense in the NFL and higher than that in the last 8 games. With his previous NFL Head Coaching experience and having learned form his mistakes, why isn't Mike Nolan the new Dolphins Head Coach?

Answered 01/11/12 13:11:45 by Greg Cote

A: Ray, I think Mike's 18-37 record in 3 1/2 seasons as a head coach probably has something to do with it.

Q: Greg, How do you like your crow, medium rare or well done? Tim Tebow shredded the Steeler defense you touted as "dominating", passing for more yards than any other QB managed against Pittsburg this season. So much for being a "fraud" quarterback, eh? BTW, you were also a little off in picking the Falcons over the Giants. Actually more than a little...that game wasn't even close!

Answered 01/11/12 13:08:54 by Greg Cote

A: (This Cobb salad is kicking my behind, by the way. A chilled plate enhances a salad so, so much). John, I prefer my crow braised and served with a bernaise sauce. Yeah Giants losing at home was a bad call by me, worse than thinking Pittsburgh would win.
