Q: yo greg, how is it that miami is only what 3-4 now? I feel like they should be like 5-2

Answered 11/04/09 13:39:04 by Greg Cote

A: Ken, I know what you mean, especially with the way the Dolphins dominated Indy in so many ways and had the Saints game in hand. Miami has to be the most dangerous bad-record team in the league. (If THAT'S any consolation...)

Q: Hey greg, who are u taking with the NL CY Young award? i think both mvp's and maybe even the al cy young are predictable but i truly dont no the NL CY Young?

Answered 11/04/09 13:37:29 by Greg Cote

A: Asked and answered, as the lawyers like to say.

Q: Hey greg, who are u taking with the NL CY Young award? i think both mvp's and maybe even the al cy young are predictable but i truly dont no the NL CY Young?

Answered 11/04/09 13:37:00 by Greg Cote

A: Steve, yeah to me the NL Cy Young is a dead-heat between Cardinals Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright, with Tim Lincecum not far behind. Also think the AL Cy Young could be interesting. I'd give Zack Greinke a slight edge over CC Sabathia.

Q: dear mr. cote what is the status of the bahamian players on the U.M footballteam their names are daniel adderley and ian symonette adderley is a t.e and symonette is o-line what is their chances of starting before they graduate according to coach shannon. i use to go the U back in late 70,s and early 80,s i saw coach saban at the U and coach schenellingburger after he left the dolphins so got see alot of U football .iremember the old orange bowl when u could choose any seat duringcoach saban term at the U.will we see more ex U players come to help coach shannon and coach barrow coach at the U both of them were great players at the U .ALso is there a website that u can email coach shannon and coach barrow also where are darrin smith whose uncle is avery good friend of mine and jesse armstead what are they doing.

Answered 11/04/09 13:35:34 by Greg Cote

A: Richard, I don't see Adderley on the roster. Symonette has the size (6-9, 345 to develop). Barrow is the linebackers coach.

Q: Greg, is Isiah Thomas making any kind of impact to the basketball program over at FIU?

Answered 11/04/09 13:33:44 by Greg Cote

A: Hi OC. Tough to gauge that this early, but I'd say yes. He raises the profile of the program, has landed a couple of recruits FIU wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Now let's check out the team itself and, just as importantly, the support/attendance.

Q: It's halftime of the chat!

Answered 11/04/09 13:31:57 by Greg Cote

A: Hey sorry about the delay there. Electricity went out briefly at my house and I had to reboot.

Q: Greg, you probably do not remember me, I used to be the travel coordinator for athletics back in the '80s. I would love for you to do a special story on Myrna Schneider, the football HCs secretary. She has been at "U" for about 25 years and secretary to several HCs, which would make for an interesting story. AND very deserving. What are your thoughts?? Thanks, Ann LaPapa

Answered 11/04/09 13:27:25 by Greg Cote

A: Hi Ann. Yes Myrna has been doing that since Jimmy Johnson I think, and she WOULD make a great story. I think something may have been written on her by Michelle Kaufman (if I'm not mistaken) a few years ago. Myrna could probably write a book!

Q: Since New Orleans switch to 8 in the box, challenged the phins to beat them with the pass in the second half, and shut down the Wild Cat, do you think the Jets could try this also?

Answered 11/04/09 13:24:24 by Greg Cote

A: Brad, yeah the Jets did emulate the Saints gameplan a bit, and with success. I'd expect the Pats to ape that some this Sunday as well. The game might fall into Chad Henne's hands.

Q: If you are Bill Parcells/Jeff Ireland, would you draft Tebow as a QB to be on your squad to challenge Pat White or Keep Thigpen?

Answered 11/04/09 13:22:59 by Greg Cote

A: Smith, no i think Miami still has too many pressing needs to take another Wildcat/backup-type QB a year after they just drafted one. I DO think Tebow might have a resourceful NFL career helped by his Wildcat-friendly skills. But not with the Dolphins.

Q: I have to give full credit where full credit is due. Ted Ginn, Jr., could not have returned those two kickoffs for touchdowns without the clutchness of Derek Jeter and the holy leadership of Tim Tebow.

Answered 11/04/09 13:21:22 by Greg Cote

A: Dead Black Swan, it is absolutely accurate to credit "the hand of Tebow" as well as that hellacious block Jeter threw. By the way, how much fun was it to see arrogant Jets special-teams coach Mike Westhoff blowing a gasket on the sidleines? Twice!?

Q: Greg, ever play any mens softball? Just wandering.. I thought I saw someone that looked like you the other night at the field, so thats what made me think of it.

Answered 11/04/09 13:19:26 by Greg Cote

A: Dick, I have played sporadically in leagues at Mills Pond and Sunset Park but have not for awhile. My doctor told me I was getting too much exercise and not enough beer so I had to change my ways.

Q: hey greg how are ya? who are u liking in game 6 tonight? i love pedro back in new york

Answered 11/04/09 13:17:37 by Greg Cote

A: Charlie, I'm good, thanks. How's the family? I too like Pedro driving the series to a Game 7. then again that may be wishful thinking. [Shameless Plug Alert] Check out today's column by me if you haven't already.

Q: why is a sweep of the jets more satisfying to me than a sweep of the patriots would be?

Answered 11/04/09 13:16:17 by Greg Cote

A: Chuck, because you hate the Jets, think Rex Ryan is a fat boor, think Mark Sanchez is an overhyped GQ pretty-boy, and think Jets fans are morons. That about summarize it?

Q: what are your feelings about Myers suspension of spinks for just one half for doing what he did in the fl/ga game? love to hear your comments

Answered 11/04/09 13:14:41 by Greg Cote

A: Roy, yeah one-half for a blatant eye gouge lets Brandon Spikes off a bit easy, but I'm not outraged, either. The Urbanator could have done nothing. The question is, can they survive mighty Vanderbilt with only half a Spikes!? :) :D

Q: Do you think D wade will resign with us? If so, do you think it'll be during this season or will he wait for all the hype of the infamous "2010 offseason"?

Answered 11/04/09 13:11:57 by Greg Cote

A: Donald, I DO think the odds are good he will re-sign long-term with Miami, but not during this season. He'll play it for all it's worth.

Q: Cote, Rank these guys in terms of who you would draft first to start your franchise around (not fantasy baseball)... Pujols, Hanley, A rod, Mauer, Lincecum and Miguel Cabrera...

Answered 11/04/09 13:10:56 by Greg Cote

A: Larry, assuming I get them all from the start of their careers, I'd make it Pujols, A-Rod, Hanley, Cabrera, Lincecum and Mauer in that order.

Q: What would you rather see happen? The NHL be permantly canceled and never played again or have Family Guy canceled and never played again? No Brainer for me! See ya Hockey!

Answered 11/04/09 13:09:08 by Greg Cote

A: Kevin, yeah you know how I love my Family Guy. Cannot imagine life without it. Sorry, puckheads!

Q: Ready for a prediction Cote?! Ronnie scores 4 TD's again against the Pats this weekend! What do ya think?

Answered 11/04/09 13:07:30 by Greg Cote

A: Mike, I think if the over/under is 4 Ronnie Brown TDs this Sunday, I would bet my life's savings on the under. Then borrow money and bet that, too.

Q: Can we get Joe Rose deported from Miami? Or, at a minimum, fired? I do not see how he adds any value to any medium. Give him a Dolphins hat and send him to an island and I'm sure he'll be happy.

Answered 11/04/09 13:06:16 by Greg Cote

A: Steve, I listen to as little sports-talk radio as is humanly possible so I rarely hear his work on the air. What's the beef, exactly? Personally, I think he's a good guy.

Q: Should the dolphins pick up Chris Chambers.

Answered 11/04/09 13:04:53 by Greg Cote

A: Marc, I thought he would have been a safe, smart, cheap addition, but the Chiefs claimed him off waivers to make the discussion moot.
