George Richards is a native Miamian who attended Florida International University and has been at The Herald since his days roaming the halls of Cooper City High. Richards has covered everything from the Rose Bowl to the Super Bowl, from the World Series to state basketball in Lakeland and everything, it seems, in between. Richards has been the Panthers beat writer since the 2004-05 season that never was, and is excited to finally see some pucks hit the ice.

Q: George..... What can be said? I honestly think this is what our team is. We have no scoring. We have no one who can create. And it looks like our defensive play is like trying to stop a flood with a screen door. While teams like Pheonix, Colorodo, Buffalo, Atlanta, L.A. seem to be getting better. And us??? No, we get worse.....even by accident you'd figure we'd get better eventually. Any thoughts?

Q: George, I just watched the hit Mike Richards put on David Booth. Made me sick. Both feet off the ice, intent to injure our best player and a great human being on top of it. I will be beyond disappointed if, next time Richards is on the ice w/ the Panthers, he is not hammered by our guys so hard he can't walk the next day. Nothing illegal, but severe retribution. Word must get around that you cannot cheap-shot our players. Do you agree?

Q: Hey George, what do you think about sending down EVERYONE with a two-way contract to the A for a week and bringing up the kids from the Amerk's that actually want to play, and see how they do? hahaha....can't be any worse than what we have and maybe the guys playing up with the big team might decide it's better to be flying to games than taking a bus. Q: Isn't CatCam the name of the FS Florida lockeroom camera? I love that camera and the FS Florida broadcasts. There is nothing like the original CatCam. No team in the NHL has an awesome lockeroom camera like that. Maybe you should name yours the Copy CatCam. When I think CatCam, I want to see the inside of the Panthers dressing room on the Fox shows!!!!!

Q: Hey George, well I guess it could be worse huh? We could be the Coyotes. What a farce that is. I'm no fan of Balsile by any stretch of the imagination. I don't like the way he's trying to bully his way into the league and not following procedure. However, he has the funds to keep the team viable. How can the league justify keeping the team in Arizona at this point? Whatever happened to just letting teams die if they are bankrupt and nobody wants them?
