Q: I am surprised that the Herald didn't report on the explosion by season ticket holders over the latest stunt by the Panthers to move everyone out of sections 101,102 and 134, no matter how long they have had the seats, unless they agree to pay $22,000 per seat per year starting next season with their "latest" scam/gimmick. Why didn't the Herald pick up on this and report the outrage of the season ticket holders ? Thanks

A: I've been on vacation...will get on this soon enough...

Q: hey george is there any updates on matthais

Answered 07/21/11 14:33:31 by George Richards

A: no

Q: It's hard to blame us for at least having hope, but shouldn't the time frame for moving forward be a major concern? Jovo has a risky contract with too much term for someone in the 35+ category. Versteeg could easily be out of Sunrise after one season if Tallon can't resign him. I know that credibility costs more when you don't have any (and we haven't had that for at least a decade), but our future rests in the hands of Kulikov, Markstrom, Gudbranson, Huburdeau, Howden, Bjugstad, etc... How can this work when players who have never scored more than 30 points in a season are receiving 4 year contracts that no other team in the league would pull the trigger on?

Answered 07/18/11 15:31:16 by George Richards

A: You make some great points; the Panthers think this is going to work, that there guys (with exception of Jose and Jovo) are entering the prime of their career. we'll have to see if that's the case or not.

Q: The Panthers got good players, but they are all foot-soldiers. The team will be better, scoring will be balanced. But there goalies will give up many more goals. If they kept Vocoun, they would make the playoffs.

Answered 07/18/11 15:30:11 by George Richards

A: goaltending absolutely a question mark right now...but they should score more, and the D will be strong...we'll see...

Q: George, do you know if the "cats" have any interest in Nikolay Zherdev ?

Answered 07/18/11 15:29:45 by George Richards

A: I wouldn't think so...roster looks pretty much set

Q: when dose training camp start for nhl teams

Answered 07/18/11 15:29:26 by George Richards

A: Panthers begin Sept. 15 I believe...whatever that Saturday is...

Q: Florida made a big splash today by obtaining five, good quality players. Most notably JOVOCOP, some good role players (Goc, Upshall)and Theodore but what im most excited about is Versteeg and Fleischmann. If Fleischmann could stay healthy i feel he could be a very dominant player in Florida, now he has a good chance to be a top 6 or even top 3 forward. What i want to know is the likelihood of Erik Gudbranson playing for us next season, i can imagine it now Jovo and Gudbranson. oh ya and out of all out prospects ( Dadonov, Howden Petrovic, G.Wilson,Repik)who will step and play to there true potential. Im a faithful Panther fan but we had years of bad drafts and the high quality players we had moved on because we never got better.

Answered 07/04/11 12:39:26 by George Richards

A: Well there you go. A lot of Panthers fans feeling good about things right now.

Q: Any idea on what the holdup is on santorelli, matthias and even gudbranson?

Answered 07/04/11 12:38:54 by George Richards

A: No idea other than it doesn't seem like they were in much of a hurry because of other stuff they wanted to do. Plenty of time.

Q: George is Johnathan Huberdeau eligible to play in the AHL at this time?

Answered 07/04/11 12:38:30 by George Richards

A: No he is not. Too young and is coming from the QJMHL. He wouldn't be eligible until 2013 because of his birthdate. Gudbranson not eligible, for same reasons, until 2012. So he plays for Panthers or in juniors this year.

Q: ARE THE PANTHER DONE WITH ALL THERE MOVES

Answered 07/04/11 12:36:45 by George Richards

A: I would think they are done with all the big ones, yes.

Q: Hey George, I like the mix of players signed during the free agent frenzy. I think we got a lot bigger and tougher to be sure. However I'm conerned that we still havent signed Gudbranson. With all the money we have available I'm left scratching my head as to why it's taking so long. Give the kid and entry level deal like everyone else. Or give him something sweeter. I really feel like he is crucial to the Panthers improving overall. Hearing anything as to what the holdup is?

Answered 07/04/11 12:36:31 by George Richards

A: Don't sweat it; they should sign him. They have a spot saved for him on this year's team. That's a nice carrot.

Q: What do you make of the Panthers moves so far?

Answered 07/04/11 12:35:54 by George Richards

A: Well, they've been pretty busy, no? They have no superstars, but this is a much better team than we have seen in some time around here. There is some offensive depth -- they will roll four lines no problem -- and the D is strong. If the goalies come in ready to go, this team could break that drought.

Q: George, anything new on the Grubransen contract ? Whats the delay?

Answered 07/04/11 12:34:48 by George Richards

A: They say they should get something done soon. Erik will be here for development camp next week; wouldn't be surprised if his agent is around as well.

Q: where did former florida panthers center chris higgins go

Answered 07/01/11 15:09:33 by George Richards

A: signed a two-year deal to stay in vancouver...

Q: What forwards and defensmen are the Panthers going to go after in the July 1 free agency! They have a lot of cap space. Are Adim Vrbata, Kris Versteeg, and Scottie Upshall possible candidates? Is their any chance they get Brad Richards?

Answered 06/29/11 10:35:29 by George Richards

A: I don't think they are going after Richards...I would think Bergenheim gets a call, as does Cole and J.Jokinen in Carolina. Perhaps Upshall?

Q: Jacob Markstrom was once a top NHL goaltending prospect. Does he have a future with the Panthers in the NHL or is he a career minor league player?

Answered 06/29/11 10:30:00 by George Richards

A: Once? The guy is 21 and has played just one AHL season. He's still looked at as the Panthers GOTF (goalie of the future)

Q: Any word on a return of higgins? What about the status of vokoun?

Answered 06/28/11 15:52:50 by George Richards

A: Have heard nothing on either; the Panthers say they are talking to Vokoun's agent...
