American Cancer Society seeks runners for fundraising race in January
The American Cancer Society's DetermiNation program is recruiting runners to participate in the ING marathon and half-marathon on Jan. 31 in Miami.
Aiming to get at least 100 runners involved, the program offers training, as well as fundraising support. Each runner is responsible for raising $500 by race day.
Runners have the choice of tackling the full, 26.2-mile marathon course or the half-marathon. The race begins near AmericanAirlines Arena in downtown Miami.

Evans signs with American cycling team BMC Racing
Road race world champion Cadel Evans of Australia signed a three-year contract with BMC racing with a victory in next year's Tour de France as his main goal, the American cycling team said Monday.
The two-time Tour de France runner-up, who announced last week he would leave the Silence-Lotto team at the end of the year, will join former Lance Armstrong teammate George Hincapie and former world champion Alessandro Ballan.
"Cadel brings a wealth of experience in the Grand Tours to the team," team co-owner Jim Ochowicz said in a statement.

UM women's golf coach to retire
University of Miami women's golf coach Lela Cannon will retire at the end of the 2009-10 season, the university announced Friday. Cannon is in her 27th season as the Hurricanes' coach.
``I'm going to miss my golfers most of all,'' Cannon said. ``I'm proud of what we've been able to accomplish as a program.''
Cannon took over at UM in the fall of 1983. The following spring, she guided the Hurricanes to the national championship. During her tenure, she has led the Hurricanes to one national championship, five state championships and 16 NCAA tournament appearances. She coached 11 All-Americans and seven Academic All-Americans.

Obama leads among Asian-Americans but a third are undecided
Asian-American voters support Barack Obama over John McCain by a substantial margin, but as many as a third are still undecided and could have an impact on the race in swing states, says the largest survey of Asian ethnic groups conducted this year. (May need to register)
