I endured three hours of torture watching the Miss Universe contest only because it was held on Florida International University’s campus.
I was expecting to see some publicity regarding what FIU has to offer, not only to South Florida, but also to people all over the world.
To my surprise, FIU was hardly mentioned throughout the broadcast, and the commentators repeatedly mentioned that the event was being held in the city of Doral. There was extensive publicity for Doral and almost none for FIU.
FIU is a source of pride for many of us in South Florida and it was shortchanged during the pageant.
