After reading the official account of how the accident with Broward Sheriff Scott Israel occurred, and viewing the video of the elderly driver, I felt badly for both victims.
The driver simply drove to her street and turned left onto her street. From the account, didn’t the sheriff run into her vehicle? (He wasn’t at a crosswalk.) Wouldn’t the pedestrian F.S.S. traffic statute 316.130 (8) apply: “Every pedestrian crossing a roadway at any point other then a marked crosswalk at an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway?”
