After Barack Obama won the presidency in a resounding victory in 2008, Mitch McConnell boasted that he would make him a one-term president. He did everything to undermine the new president by obstructing him at every turn. However, Obama easily won his second term, and McConnell’s tactics of obstructionism failed miserably.
Now in the last year of Obama’s presidency, McConnell is trying to delegitimize the president again by denying him his constitutional right to nominate a Supreme Court justice after Justice Scalia’s death.
This blatant attempt to stop Obama characterizes his years of obstruction to damage this presidency. McConnell will fail, too, with this latest tactic.
