I thank the Miami Herald for its Dec. 28 tribute, Recalling South Florida notables who died this year. However, no primary- or secondary-school teacher was listed. Tom Wyroba, who died in August within months of his retirement, is worthy of inclusion.
A founding art teacher of New World School of the Arts, he brought national recognition to the school and to its alumni, teaching more Presidential Scholars than any teacher in the country and jawboning millions of scholarship dollars for his students to attend the best arts colleges. Certainly your readers could add to your list that one special teacher who made a difference in their lives.
