I thought the Coral Gables City Commission said they would invite the public to view the artists’ submissions for the new sculpture for the traffic circle at Biltmore Way and Segovia.
But according to Coral Gables e-News it looks as if a renown New York artist and her “proposed sculpture concept” has already been chosen.
It looks like a giant, leggy bug wrestling with some odd looking flowers. Does that mean it is appropriate just because Coral Gables is called a garden city?
I would love to have seen some of the other 181 submissions. Perhaps the City Commission could have narrowed them down to five and asked us residents for our input.
I would have preferred something less wispy, more in keeping with the features of Coral Gables' architecture.
