My family recently moved to Fort Lauderdale after being stationed overseas with the U.S. government for the past 14 years. We were so excited that our children could finally experience a real American Thanksgiving. Imagine our heartbreak when we discovered that, in our absence, this lovely holiday has become just another day at the mall.
We have lived in places where people live without running water or electricity; where parents are desperate to keep their children from starving. Americans have so many blessings — is it too much to ask that we take one day to recognize that?
