Re the Sept. 20 article, Many reasons for chaotic traffic in South Florida: Yes, construction can cause backups, however, the real-life reason for the absurd traffic is simply that there are too many people in Miami and many of them seem to have very little understanding of the traffic laws.
As an example, several times a day I see people turning left from the far-right lane and vice versa. I’m sure most of us have seen this. I wonder how people get their licenses to drive in this city.
And throw in texting while driving, and that adds to the fun. Miami was never intended or equipped to hold this many people. So it’s not so much the construction, or the ducks crossing the street (not that they would make it), it’s too many people.
