The word “pillar” is often overused when referring to people who’ve made great contributions to society. It certainly comes to mind when I think about the late Jack Admire. However, the word falls short when describing him.
Jack was a change-maker. For many years, he served on the Miami Dade College Foundation Board and made all those who served alongside him better citizens and better people. He raised the bar for philanthropy decades before many came to realize that charitable giving was the right thing to do. He also raised the bar for civic engagement, serving on numerous prestigious boards.
I also fondly recall that Jack was always the life of the party and that he and his lovely wife, Ruth, were often the first couple to hit the dance floor at parties and galas. There was so much to admire in Jack, and he’s left an indelible mark on this community that will last for years to come.
