Don’t blame cops

The Miami Herald’s Opinion pages hit a an all-time low with the Aug. 23 Other Views feature, Stopped by Cops. It only stoked the fire and insulted the police.

The Ferguson, Missouri, shooting has created a discussion in this country about blacks and cops. But the media conveniently leave out all the figures about blacks and their involvement with crime, however.

Perhaps the reason why blacks are pulled over for no reason is that they are being stereotyped. Well, do you blame cops? Young black males are the ones committing a huge number of crimes. Police shootings of black men is low compared to the number of black killed by other blacks.

Protesters’ T-shirts that say, “Stop Shooting Us” should really say “Stop Shooting Yourselves.”
