After being critically wounded during an assassination attempt on former President Ronald Reagan in 1981, former White House Press Secretary James Brady never fully recovered. While other men may have given up, Brady courageously persevered and campaigned for stricter gun-control laws. Although the Brady Bill saved countless lives, we need look no further than the National Rifle Association and our elected legislators, whom they lobbied, for the loosening of restrictions.

I can’t help but wonder if our nation would be experiencing so many deadly shooting sprees if the Brady Bill had remained in its original form.
