Teach kids gun safety

Re the Aug. 2 Mama Sass column on a children’s book on parents that open-carry guns: If every child were required to take a firearm safety course in elementary school, most accidental shootings could be avoided.

It would take the curiosity factor away from guns. The more you hide guns from kids, the more likely it is that they will pick one up if they see one. And since a lot of parents are afraid of guns, maybe they should take the course, too.
