Obama can’t win

Hundreds of children are voluntarily turning themselves in to the U.S. Border Patrol, at the Mexican border. They actively seek out the Border Patrol to turn themselves in. They present no violent threat that requires additional armed personnel to protect the Public Safety.

Republicans, judging by the angry talking heads on television, are furious with President Obama for not going to the border to see all these kids turning themselves in to U.S. officials, thus depriving them of the opportunity to use the zingers that they have prepared, criticizing his going to the border. For example, by not going to the border, they will not have the opportunity of criticizing him for idle grandstanding and photo ops.

He will be accused of making it look cool to other kids who will think that the president welcomes all the Central American kids at the border sanctioning the influx of children by merely being present. They will ask what he hoped to accomplish by going to the border when neither American lives nor property was at risk and he was needed in Washington. Most of all, he will draw more opprobrium for being divisive by not willing to accept being the target of their abuse.
