Gov. Rick Scott signed a law improving how DCF functions. It’s a relief to see a return to emphasizing the safety of at-risk children than on the wishes of troubled parents.
The other new initiatives should also be helpful.
But Floridians will not be doing enough to keep dependent and at-risk children safe as long as protective-service workers continue to have heavier caseloads than what research has determined to be adequate.
