Re the June 26 story Miami’s Chief Orosa wants detente with Critical Mass leaders: I believe the chief should use a more subtle way of controlling Critical Mass. The route is posted. What he should do is pick 15 or 20 critical intersections along the route and post officers at these intersections to direct traffic. That would eliminate the blocking of these intersections by bikers and keep traffic moving.
It would also break up the large mass into smaller ones that would not interfere as much at intersections. It would also give him the upper hand if bikers disobey officers at the manned intersections. Although this might be a small inconvenience to the bikers, it would reduce the inconvenience to automobiles so that everyone shared the pain equally.
