ACA problems

Regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA), President Obama said, “If you like your health plan, you can keep it. Period!”

So far, I have been able to keep my PPO plan that I like. However, the premiums have gone up, the deductibles have gone up, the co-pay has gone up and I now have coverage I don’t want and don’t need.

Next year, my company says it has to terminate the PPO plan or pay a high excise tax mandated by the ACA. It considered dumping us on the exchanges, but will give us some kind of consumer plan with a very high deductible and tied to a health savings plan, which has some tax benefits. Unfortunately for older workers already collecting Social Security, the ACA doesn’t allow them to participate in the health savings plan.

If you have a company-sponsored plan, be sure you will soon hear about this. Be sure, too, to think about this at election time.
