Death Row ‘friends’

Re Marci Alborghetti’s June 14 Other Views column, Death penalty is not a Christian value: Alborghetti is convinced her friends on Death Row are sincere in their anti-violence stances, meditation, prayer and redemption. She goes as far as labeling several governors competitors in the number of execution orders they have signed.

  • 'Multiple fatalities' on derailed Amtrak train

    Authorities say multiple people were killed when an Amtrak passenger train derailed onto Interstate 5 south of Seattle. Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said none of the fatalities were motorists who were in cars and trucks on the interstate when the train came off the tracks.
