I’m disturbed by a license application pending for adding two nuclear-power plants in Turkey Point. Nuclear power plants around the world have caused serious loss of life and permanent injury to millions of people from Chernobyl to Fukushima.
Non-nuclear generation of power by solar, tidal current or wind presents no such dangers to our lives, which should be of primary consideration. Even natural gas is less expensive and accomplishes the same goals with fewer adverse consequences.
Florida is blessed with sun, wind, tides and the current of the Gulf Stream. We should take advantage of what we already possess and create the least damage by using all our renewable resources.
