The Miami Herald recently reported on a ground-breaking ceremony for a much-needed Jackson Health medical facility in Doral. The Milton family donated $10 million to help create it.
Tens of thousands of children and adults will benefit from this resource for decades to come, but they will likely never know the Miltons. Their generosity is an unqualified blessing to Miami-Dade County.
Yet, the Herald soiled the story of this celebration by needlessly concluding its article about the event with ancient news about disputed claims of exclusionary rental practices nearly three decades ago. Why? It isn’t news. It isn’t at all relevant to the joyous occasion.
