In honor of the recent passing of Morris Broad, I’d like to share a story about his and his family’s generous gift-giving.
Years ago, Barry University was hosting a special dinner and invited Sen. Robert Dole as its guest of honor. Sister Dorothy was Barry’s president at the time, and she invited Broad as the main speaker.
From the stage, Broad told a story to the crowd of how he once had accepted a telephone call from former Miami Archbishop Coleman Carroll inviting Broad to a “cup of coffee.”
With a grin, Broad went on to say that it turned out to be “the most expensive cup of coffee of his life.”
Never miss a local story.
