A woman was charged with assault and resisting arrest for allegedly throwing her dog at an animal control officer. Police was called Wednesday to the street where 39-year-old woman lives on a report of mail carriers being chased by two dogs. One of the dogs had been seized by Animal Rescue League Officer Steve Sexton, while the second one had found refuge in the woman's home.
A man says he used his chainsaw to fight off a starving mountain lion that attacked him while he was camping in the Shoshone National Forest. Ex-Marine Dustin Britton of Windsor, Colo., says he raised the chainsaw he had been using to cut brush and inflicted a six- to eight-inch gash on the 100-pound lion's shoulder.

A 26-year-old Philadelphia man suspected of impersonating a priest while visiting a wounded police officer was arrested on Monday. The man was charged with criminal trespass and false impersonating. A 51-year-old man told a police officer he was naked in a northern Indiana cemetery because he had taken off his wet clothes after checking on his in-laws' grave and then wanted a closer look at some flowers. The officer was off duty and jogging through Rice Cemetery in Elkhart Sunday afternoon when he saw the naked man get into a truck and drive away. The officer later tracked down the Mishawaka man from his license plate number.
Gainesville police are seeking an employee who tore up the fast-food restaurant, damaging cash registers and ruining some meals after he was fired. Sgt. Belva McClinton said a warrant was being prepared Tuesday for a 20-year-old man on criminal mischief charges.
