The holidays over, roadwork has fully resumed on South Florida expressways and surface streets and avenues. A new project will hamper traffic flow on Biscayne Boulevard and several ongoing projects will again close or restrict lanes on State Roads 836 and 826, as well as on the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike.
The new project will start this week on Biscayne Boulevard from Northeast 196th to 213th streets in Aventura. The project will cost an estimated $3.52 million and last approximately 10 months. It includes repaving and widening of the road, as well as upgrading of pedestrian ramps.
Meanwhile, several ramps along 836 will close intermittently for paving work through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
The ramps include those at Northwest 17th, 27th, 37th, 42nd (LeJeune Road), 45th, 57th and 107th avenues.
In addition, there will be a complete closure of all lanes on Northwest 42nd Avenue/LeJeune Road between Northwest 11th and 16th streets for bridge demolition through Thursday from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night.
Meanwhile, work will resume on the widening of the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike which includes construction of toll express lanes.
One or two northbound or southbound Turnpike lanes may be closed nightly at various locations between Southwest 216th and 184th (Eureka Drive) streets between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. through Thursday. Also, one or two Turnpike lanes in each direction between Southwest 104th (Killian Parkway) and 184th (Eureka Drive) streets may be closed nightly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. through Thursday. A third lane in either direction may be closed between11 p.m. and 5 a.m., if needed.
