New projects will slow down commuters this week in Miami-Dade County.
Workers are scheduled to begin a landscaping project along State Road 826 (the Palmetto Expressway) from Southwest Second Street to Northwest 14th Street. The project, which will cost an estimated $1.4 million, will take roughly 10 months and includes planting of trees.
To complete the work safely, travel lanes will be closed at times.

Meanwhile, the intersection of Northeast 36th Street and Northeast Second Avenue will be closed through Saturday night. This closure is necessary to complete the installation of a 48” water main on Northeast 36th Street. The work will be performed 24 hours a day during the five-day closure.
Other ongoing projects on the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike will bring lane closures from Campbell Drive to State Road 836 (the Dolphin Expressway).
There will be northbound and southbound single-lane closures at various locations between Campbell Drive and south of Southwest 288th Street from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through Thursday for work on the Campbell Drive-Turnpike interchange.
Other nightly closures on the Turnpike include lanes between Southwest 288th Street and SR 836 for widening and express lane construction.
One closure of a single lane northbound or southbound will take place from Southwest 216th to 288th streets through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.; single or double lane closures northbound or southbound between Eureka Drive and Killian Parkway from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday; single or double lane closures from Killian Parkway to north of Sunset Drive through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.; double lane closures northbound and southbound between Sunset Drive and Bird Road through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.; double lane closures northbound and southbound at various locations from Bird Road to SR 836 through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Also on the Turnpike, there will be a nightly closure of the northbound entrance ramp from Southwest Eighth Street through Thursday from11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
On Interstate 95, all southbound and northbound express lanes from Golden Glades Interchange to State Road 112 (the Airport Expressway) will be closed nightly through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Also on I-95, two northbound general purpose lanes from Northwest 29th Street to Interstate 195 will be closed between 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through Thursday. Similarly, one northbound I-95 general purpose lane from Northwest 60th to 79th streets will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5:30 a.m. Friday.
On Interstate 75, express lane work will close one northbound and one southbound lane through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from SR 826 to Northwest 138th Street.
Also on I-75, two northbound and two southbound outside lanes will be closed from SR 826 to Northwest 138th Street from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.
On SR 826, two southbound inside lanes will be closed from Northwest 36th to 58th streets through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Closures related to rail crossing work due to construction of the new passenger train service to Orlando will resume in June in Miami-Dade.
One closure at Northeast 141st Street in North Miami will take place from 7 a.m. June 1 to 6 p.m. June 9; and a second closing is to take place at Northeast 151st Street in North Miami Beach from 7 a.m. June 15 to 6 p.m. June 23.
