Three new roadway projects in Medley, Hialeah Gardens and on Southwest Eighth Street will add to commute headaches this week in Miami-Dade County.
In Medley, roadway improvements on Northwest 93rd Street, Northwest 95th Street and Northwest 89th Avenue will last approximately one year at an estimated cost of $3.3 million. Improvements include resurfacing of Northwest 93rd Street east of Northwest 87th Avenue; reconstruction of Northwest 93rd and 95th streets west of 87th Avenue, and work on Northwest 89th Avenue from 93rd to 95th streets.
Another new roadway project will result in lane restrictions along Southwest Eighth Street at Southwest 67th Avenue. The $397,288 project will last approximately four months and includes repaving and restriping, as well as new street lighting and sidewalks.

The third new project takes place along Northwest 87th Avenue from 74th to 103rd streets in Hialeah Gardens and Medley. The $33.6-million project will last approximately 28 months and include construction of a four-lane divided road with a painted median, a new bridge over the Miami Canal and new drainage.
Meanwhile, an ongoing roadway project on the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike will close northbound or southbound lanes nightly from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. at various locations between Campbell Drive and Southwest 288th Street through Thursday.
Also on the Turnpike, workers building express lanes and widening the roadway, will close one lane southbound and northbound through Thursday from Southwest 216th to 288th streets from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through early Friday. Elsewhere on the Turnpike, all lanes northbound between Southwest 152nd Street and Southwest 117th Avenue will be closed from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday. If necessary, these lane closures may also take place nightly Monday, May 8, through Wednesday, May 10, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
There will also be nightly lane closures northbound or southbound for widening and express lane work between Eureka Drive and Killian Parkway through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day; northbound or southbound lanes from Killian Parkway to north of Sunset Drive through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.; at various locations between Sunset Drive and Bird Road through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day; various locations between Bird Road and State Road 836, the Dolphin Expressway, through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
Ongoing work on Interstate 95, meanwhile, will close the northbound and southbound exit 2A to Biscayne Boulevard/Downtown Miami nightly through Friday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m or 7 a.m. the next day. The closure will allow workers to maintain the bridge deck and railings.
Elsewhere on I-95, workers building emergency stopping sites on the express lane will close through Thursday all southbound and northbound express lanes from the Golden Glades Interchange to State Road 112, the Airport Expressway, and one northbound general purpose lane from Northwest 27th to 79th streets between 9.p.m. and 5:30 a.m. the next day. Then on Friday and Saturday, all southbound express lanes from the Golden Glades to 112 will close between 11 p.m. and 11 a.m. the next day.
Meanwhile, on Interstate 75 and State Road 826, the Palmetto Expressway, workers building express lanes will close the I-75 southbound ramp to 826 northbound through Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
Also on I-75, one southbound lane will close at the junction with State Road 924, the Gratigny Parkway eastbound, through Thursday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning.
On 826, meanwhile, one southbound lane will be closed at Okeechobee Road through Thursday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
Also on 826, all southbound lanes will close at Northwest 74th Street through Thursday 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Similarly, on Thursday or Friday all southbound lanes on 826 will close at Northwest 58th Street from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
