I have so many stories, I don't know where to begin. I had just turned 7 years old, when they came to our house to do inventory of our possessions, I had to pick one toy to take. I had lots of dolls and it was hard to pick one. I remember looking inside my armoire and not really comprehending I would never see any of those memories again. Then they taped our front door with a wide yellow tape to make sure we would not go back inside and take anything else. Unbeknown to the Cuban government, my father had all of our jewelry inside the heels of the shoes he wore out of Cuba, that was the only way he could take their wedding rings. It was a long two days to get to Miami. Yes, two days to travel approximately 200 miles.
