A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Southwest Miami-Dade Monday night, police said.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, died on the shoulder of the road in the 15300 block of Southwest 157th Avenue. He was riding home from work on a light-blue bicycle when he was struck by a car heading north, said Det. Roy Rutland, a Miami-Dade police spokesman.
The man's family became concerned when he didn't arrive home, and went out to look for him. They found him unconscious, and contacted police about 8:30 p.m.
This was the second fatal hit-and-run accident in South Miami-Dade in five days. On Thursday, a man was struck as crossed the street at Southwest 117th Avenue near 192nd Street.
Police did not have a description of the car in Monday's accident. Investigators asked anyone with information to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-8477.
