Elderly man hit by pickup dies; driver flees in Southwest Miami-Dade
An elderly pedestrian died in a hit-and-run accident with a pickup truck Thursday evening, Miami-Dade police said.
About 7:15 p.m., the white pickup headed south on Southwest 117th Avenue hit the man near 192nd Street, police spokesman Detective Roy Rutland said.
Witnesses told police the pickup continued southbound after hitting the man.
The pedestrian, whose name was not immediately released, was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he was pronounced dead.
Police late Thursday were looking for the pickup, which had a yellow light bar on its roof and lettering on its side, Rutland said. The truck may have front-end damage as a result of the accident, he said.
Investigators asked anyone with information to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-8477.
