The kids at Tropical Elementary were treated to a surprise Wednesday morning.

Instead of their regular principal, they found zany zoologist Ron Magill at the helm of their school.

``They were so blown away,'' the real principal, Yubeda Miah, said of her students. ``They were intrigued by his personality -- and his height.''

Magill was one of 370 civic and business leaders taking part in the Miami-Dade school district's Principal for a Day program.

Other principals for the day include Miami-Dade Commissioner Katy Sorenson, Marlins VP Sean Flynn and Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Pat Santangelo.
