Authorities have arrested two men police believe ransacked and torched two unmarked police cars in West Miami-Dade in January.

Charged Wednesday: Michael Gazich, 31, and Vladimir Solis, 19.

The cars belonged to a couple, Carlos Gonzalez, a Miami-Dade sergeant, and Yvette Gomez, a Doral officer. In January, Gomez awoke to find the vehicles ablaze and ransacked outside their home.

Stolen from Gonzalez's Ford Edge: a .40-cal. pistol, badges, police IDs, handcuffs and a bullet-proof vest. From Gomez's Ford Expedition, the thieves stole her 9mm Glock, a Taser stun gun, bullet proof vest and gift cards.

Investigators said they have no evidence to prove the vehicles were initially targeted because they belonged to police.

Miami-Dade detectives found Gomez's gift cards and a bag of cocaine in Gazich's possession when he was pulled over, a search warrant states.

Undercover agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives working with Miami-Dade police bought the stolen police guns from Solis.

Gazich and Solis were both charged with arson, armed burglary and grand theft.
