U.S. Customs & Border Protection began construction on eight prototype border walls in San Diego, California, about two miles east of the Otay Mesa border crossing with Mexico, on September 26. The prototypes were between 18 and 30 feet high and 30 feet long. Four were planned to be made of concrete while the others would use a range of materials. Completion of the wall prototype construction was expected to take about 30 days.
