As the U.S. region with the most at stake, South Florida will be focused on Haiti's recovery and reconstruction in the coming months.
Next Sunday in Issues & Ideas, we'll offer some perspectives from prominent South Florida's Haitans on what has occurred since the quake and what ought to happen next.
And we'd like to hear your thoughts on the following:
1) Building standards: How can a country as poor as Haiti ensure that structures are built to withstand any future disasters?
2) Adoption: How important is it that U.S. families adopting Haitian orphans preserve the child's native culture?
3) Transparency: What is the best way to ensure that the billions in aid being funneled into Haiti is used as intended and not squandered or stolen.
Send your thoughts to ideasforHaiti@miamiherald.com.
We’ll publish them during the week at MiamiHerald.com/haiti/connect, and a collection in next Sunday's paper as well.
