Waiting tables, being an administrative assistant and working in customer service paid the bills at various times for 1990 Palmer School graduate Kevin Jesurun, a native of the Netherlands Antilles who died when Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 crashed in the Ukraine. Jeserun’s loves, however, clearly were laughter and soccer.
In the wake of Germany winning soccer’s World Cup in Brazil, Jesurun’s Facebook cover photo showed Rio de Janiero’s Christ the Redeemer statue photoshopped to being a celebratory German Chancellor Andrea Merkel.
In a remembrance released by Palmer Trinity School in Palmetto Bay (Palmer and Trinity merged in 1991), classmate Virgilio Guma wrote, “Kevin Jesurun was friendly, light-hearted and easygoing. When you saw him walking down the hall at school he was always first to shoot you with an infectious smile. I last saw him a couple of years ago at a carnival celebration in his native Curaçao …”
