Weekend cruises begin in December, with sailings every other Thursday. Board 11 a.m. - 3:30 for 5 p.m. sailing. (You must be aboard by 3:30)
Friday: 7 a.m. - 2 p.m., Key West. (Dinner this night is formal.)
Saturday, 11 a.m. - 8 p.m., Cozumel.
Sunday: At sea.
WHAT IT COSTS
Cost: Starting at $359 per person, double occupancy, for an inside cabin
How to book: When my patience wore out from sitting on hold at the Celebrity booking number, I e-mailed a travel agent, who handled everything painlessly -- and let me know about a special upgrade offer that didn't appear on the website.
What to ask for: Get a cabin as close to the center of the ship on as high a deck as your price range allows.
Upgrades, are they worth it? It depends on what it costs and whether you'll use the amenities. For a South Floridian who can handle their own reservations on the ground, the concierge was of little use. But we'd gotten a great price on the balcony cabin, thanks to a special for over-55 guests (that would be The Husband), and I confess, I enjoyed the verandah (where I wrote this story.)
Passport: Yup, you gotta have one, or the newly announced mini-passport card.
Murano, the ship's specialty restaurant, charges $30 per guest. Spa treatments start around $79 plus gratuity. Most martinis surpass the $10 mark. Wines are more reasonably priced, with decent bottles $25 and under.
