Orlando deals

Like most destinations this year, Orlando is offering values like never before -- even during summer.

Expect buy-two-nights, get-one-free offers at lodgings; four rounds of golf for the price of three and adult tickets for children's prices. Those deals don't usually apply to the major parks like Disney, SeaWorld and Universal, but even those parks are serving up better-than-usual offers (see box page 4J).

Here are a few tips that can save you bucks:

• Check out the Deal of the Week at www.orlandoinfo.com. These offer discounts sometimes as much as 50 percent above regular offers.

• Get the Bundles of Free Smiles card from the local tourism bureau for discounts on dining, activities and lodging. You can download it at www.orlandoinfo.com.

• Ask about Florida-resident offers. Many lodgings and attractions offer them.

• Buy attraction tickets online; often you'll find a discount.

• Check online for hotel discounts. Your first stop should be the area's tourism website, www.orlandoinfo.com; then do a Google search for ``orlando hotel discounts.''

• Check out vacation villas. If you're with a crowd, you can get maximum space for the price -- usually a multi-bedroom apartment, condo or house; most have a resort or individual pool. Even at timeshare resorts and vacation clubs, you don't have to be a member to rent. Options include Disney's Vacation Club (//disneyworld.disney.go.com/), Westgate Resorts (www.westgateresorts.com), All-Star Vacation Homes (www.allstarvacationhomes.com), Homeaway.com (www.homeaway.com), Rentalo (www.rentalo.com) and Vacation Rental by Owner (www.vrbo.com).
