MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Students from schools throughout Miami-Dade County were named the March winners of the Do The Right Thing Program (DTRT), sponsored by the Miami Police Department, British Airways, The Miami Herald and WTVJ-NBC 6. Winners were selected from hundreds of nominations submitted to the program for March. City of Miami Deputy Police Chief Frank Fernandez, along with assistant chief Adam Burden, presented the students with their prizes at a ceremony April 17.

If nothing else, residents just west of the Country Walk area agree on one thing: The new high school planned for the neighborhood raises quality of life issues.
My family has lived in the Briar Bay (The Falls) area for 10 years. As part of unincorporated Miami-Dade County, we have access to the same schools, parks, roadways and libraries as any other county resident. We have had to utilize the services of the police and fire departments and both responded in a reasonable amount of time. Our garbage is always picked up.

Hundreds of walkers and volunteers will honor Mother's Day on May 11 by participating in the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization's Walk to Empower in Coconut Grove's Kennedy Park. The goal is to raise $160,000 to benefit Y-ME programs and services offered free to anyone seeking information and support.
