Amnesty International and ACLU have built a replica at Bayfront Park of a Guantánamo prison cell to highlight alleged human rights abuses of detainees there. Sitting in the cell is demonstrator Prem Jayanthan, 23.

A cell at Camp 5 in Guantánamo Bay is about 10 feet long and seven feet wide -- a little bigger than a cell on Florida's Death Row. The bed is a thin plastic mat, the lights sterile flourescents. The toilet is thin steel. The ankle chains are heavier.

Until Sunday, visitors can sit in a full-scale replica of a Guantánamo cell at the Tina Hills Pavilion at Miami's Bayfront Park.

The box -- stamped ''Counter Terror with Justice'' and painted the blazing orange of detainees' jumpsuits -- is the creation of Amnesty International. The human-rights organization is calling on the Bush administration to shut down the controversial prison at the U.S. military base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, where the government has detained suspected terrorists without trial for more than six years.

''It's important that we try to think about what it's like to live in a box,'' Larry Cox, director of Amnesty International USA, said at a press conference launching the project Thursday. ``Guantánamo Bay has undermined justice, not served it.''

Amnesty is also hosting a concert Saturday at Bayfront Park.
