AHarvest Baazar, hosted by the Revelation Christian Academy at 8390 NW 14th Ave., will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 at the church.
In addition to various kinds of items for sale, space will also be available to vendors for the sale of their items.
The day will also feature a traditional Thanksgiving dinner: turkey, dressing (stuffing), cranberry sauce, collard greens or green beans and a roll, and sweet potato pie or a slice of cake for dessert. The cost is $7 per dinner.

HEALTH FAIR
The Miami Springs Seventh Day Adventist Church at 701 Curtis Pkwy. in Miami Springs will have an ``Amazing Health Fair'' from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the church.
The fair will include health screenings for cholesterol and glucose; exercise and nutrition classes and consultations; cooking demonstrations; lectures, books and information; giveaways and children's crafts; snacks; games; and a seniors exercise class.

BELLYDANCING
Arts at St. Johns on the Lake at 4760 Pinetree Dr. in Miami Beach, will present ``Bellydance University'' from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and also on Dec. 5.
You are invited to join dancer Hanan in exploring the history, contexts and impact of bellydancing on popular culture, while learning new movements and meanings.
On Saturday, the class, ``What Is Now and What Came Before -- A Glance at History,'' will use scholarly articles and creative unblocking exercises to get to the core of the dance, its historical relevance and how to apply that knowledge to present-day dancing.
According to a news release, the Dec. 5, workshop (``Beyond Kitsch, Exoticism and Projection -- Articulating Our Truth'') will work with women's folk styles to encourage each participant to find their authentic voice.

`HOUSE OF GHOSTS'
Lawrence Kaplan, author of House of Ghosts, will present a reading and discussion of his novel at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 12, at the Jewish Museum of Florida, 301 Washington Ave. in Miami Beach.
According to a news release, the book is ``a gripping detective mystery that explores anti-Semitism and Jewish resistance to Nazism in the U.S. in the years preceding World War II.''
The book also is historical fiction based on the true-life adventures of Kaplan's mother-in-law, who survived imprisonment at Auschwitz.

WRITING CONTEST
A creative-writing contest for students has been announced by the Jewish Museum of Florida. The contest, ``A Military Portrait,'' will supplement the museum's upcoming exhibit (``Florida Jews in the Military'') to be on display from Feb. 23 through Sept. 12, 2010. Submission deadline is Jan. 8, 2010. Essays must focus on the accomplishments of a Jewish person the writers know or have researched and have served in the military.
All middle-school and high-school students (one entry per person) in Florida are eligible.
Prizes will be awarded to three middle-school and three high-school students: $125 for first prize; $75 for second prize and $50 for third prize.
Winners and their families will be invited to the awards ceremony at the museum on Feb. 22, 2010, and the winners' classes will also be invited for a free tour of the exhibit.
