If residents of Miami Springs are looking to celebrate Halloween a day early, they should put on their best costumes and head over to the Miami Springs Golf and Country Club, where a pre-Halloween celebration will happen from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday.

A large tent will be set up on the golf course behind the country club off Curtiss Parkway, decked out in festive Halloween décor.

In addition, the cast members, both volunteers and paid recreational staff, will be in costume.

The event is made possible by the city's general fund. Miami Springs Golf and Country Club is at 650 Curtiss Pkwy.

In conjunction with Halloween-themed food, candy, and music, residents can also enjoy booths set up by the Miami Springs, Medley and Virginia Gardens police departments, as well as a stealth car display from Florida Highway Patrol's roll over unit.

``This is part of a concerted effort to heighten crime and drug awareness, and to strengthen the community and neighborhood watch partnership,'' Assistant City Manager Ron Gorland said.

There will also be an RV from the State Attorney's Office at the event that will be doing fingerprints for children in attendance.
