Wynwood considered for arts district

Most Miamians interested in the arts know there's a small haven of edgy, artistic cool tucked amid gritty blocks of warehouses and abandoned buildings west of Edgewater. Now, Miami wants to give it official recognition. City commissioners on June 26 gave preliminary approval to an ordinance establishing the Wynwood Arts District, though at least one commissioner thought the boundaries weren't inclusive enough.

North Miami Beach interim City Manager Kelvin Baker told the council that he was looking for jobs elsewhere, but he said Monday he is working as if he is ``staying for awhile.''
