Starting Wednesday, Aventura will give drivers 90 days to get adjusted to the city's new automated ticketing system for red-light runners. During the warning period, which will run through Oct. 10, mounted cameras will capture images and video of red-light violations, and warning notices will be sent to the vehicle owners. The camera takes two pictures, one in the front of the light and when the vehicle is crossing the intersection. Video footage will be available online.

In Miami-Dade, the new school year starts on Aug. 18. Since 1985, the Miami-Dade County Health Department has provided free vaccinations for children from 2 months to 18 years old. At any one of six centers in the county, hundreds of patients a week are immunized from diseases like polio, rubella, the mumps and chicken pox.

I saw people getting their cards back wrapped in the receipt, and then not checking to make sure it was their card. I saw people placing credit cards in back pockets or just tossing them into purses.
