Stories of midlife crises, murders and traveling circuseshave been entertaining Miamians -- Gallic-style -- this weekend.
The French Film Festival rolled into Coconut Grove on Friday evening. Over three days, organizers planned to show nine recent films, including the most successful movie ever to open in France.
The event, which has been held in Auditorium 10 at AMC Cocowalk, kicked off Friday with Love Me No More, about a successful middle-aged father who manages to ruin his perfect life over one weekend.
It closes Sunday with Made in Italy, the story of a French/Italian writer driven half-mad by a new, ''berlusconized'' Italy and unexpected family complications following the death of his father.
Directors and cast members of two films will be available for question-and-answer sessions. On Saturday, writer/director Philippe Muyl was scheduled to speak to attendees about his film Magic, about the effect of a traveling circus on a Canadian woman and her son.
On Sunday, director/actor Danny Boon and actor Kad Merad will answer questions about Welcome to the Sticks, a comedy about a postman who moves to Northern France. The film is the biggestbox-office hit in France.
Tickets for the closing show are $12, and general admission tickets are $10 at the Cocowalk box office. For information about Sunday's events, go to www.francecinemafloride. com/Miami/index.html.
