The National Council of Jewish Women's Greater Miami section will honor Bay Harbor resident Myra Farr for 70 years of leadership and community service at a brunch on Nov. 22, at Temple Beth Sholom, 4144 Chase Ave. in Miami Beach.
Farr, 94, received a membership to the organization after marrying her husband, Aaron, in 1938. She went on to serve as a section president, national board member, vice president and honorary national vice president.
In addition to NCJW, Farr is also active in multiple othernonprofits including the Greater Miami Jewish Federation (she is the second oldest active member on the board) and Jewish Museum of Florida.
In 2007, Farr received the ``Call to Service Award'' from the U.S. President's Council of Volunteerism. On Nov. 19, she will receive a Positive Living Award for philanthropy from the Alliance for Aging.
The NCJW event begins at 10:30 a.m. with a boutique bazaar, followed by a program at 11:30 a.m. that will include a video montage about Myra Farr's life, produced by Beach resident Alana Rothlein of Envision It Inc. (and an NCJW director).
``I am looking forward to seeing the finished result of the video myself,'' said Farr, ``and to sharing the day with everyone.''
Event chair is Joni Meiselman. General admission is $150. For further information, contact Sharon Yudewitz at 305-538-4744 or info@NCJWGMS.org.
