`Blue Angels' philanthropists are honored

Special to The Miami Herald

Tiffany & Co. and Miami Monthly Magazine recognized a new group of philanthropists at a festive evening event held at The Viceroy's Club 50. Called The Blue Angels, the honorees include Ricky Arriola, Paula Brockway, Thea Goldman, Bill Holly, Irene Korge, Abigail Pollak and Samantha Sharpe. Publisher and Executive Editor of Miami Monthly Elena V. Carpenter and Tiffany & Co. Group Director Henry Gonzalez welcomed guests and gave glowing remarks about each honoree.

All enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and cocktails poolside on the hotel's rooftop terrace. Models presented Carolina Herrera cocktail attire and bathing suits by La Perla topped off with jewelry by Tiffany & Co. Everyone was treated to two surprise raffles, and lucky winners were given luxury presents from each of the participating brands.

GOLF FUNDRAISER

The Florida Hemophilia Association will host its 20th annual ``Swing for the Kids'' golf fundraiser on Nov. 16 at the Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club in Coral Gables. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The awards dinner with raffle and silent auction is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Participants will receive a round of golf, range balls, golf shirt, lunch and dinner. Cost is $225 per individual golfer or $800 per foursome. Register and pay by Oct. 16 and save 10 percent.

The par-71 course is a golfer's oasis with protected mangroves, wildlife, scenic waterways and craftsmanship that provides a challenge on every swing. Contests include Hole-in-One, win a BMW, sponsored by South Motors BMW; Longest Drive; Closest to the Pin; Putting; and Par 3 Poker where the winner takes a 50/50 split.

Proceeds from the tournament help provide families with hemophilia and related bleeding disorders the opportunity for education, outreach, compassionate care and other services offered by the association.
